Rust Free 1988 325ix 5 Speed Coupe

Finding a rust free E30 325ix these days can be extremely challenging, considering they were designed for traversing snow, ice and salt covered roads. The best region to buy any vintage car is obviously in the South or West, far away from any frozen precipitation. Today’s 325ix find brings us to Costa Mesa, California. Listed on Craigslist for $6,000 this iX boasts a desirable 5 speed manual transmission and a rust free sun baked body. Always choose faded paint and a dry body over gloss and rust.

It’s always a good idea to verify the all wheel drive system is working in these cars, as the transfer case is prone to failure. Other items to look for include timing belt service, water in the trunk, signs of water in the rear floor from clogged sunroof drains.

The seller is an enthusiast and appears to have quite a bit of history on the car including maintenance and repair records. The 88 model was fully loaded with all of BMW’s technology and options at the time, including a maplight mirror, sport seats, leather, premium sound, ski bag and 15” alloy basketweave wheels. See the listing on Craigslist here.
